SELINSGROVE -- Despite being out of the playoff picture the Ironmen still played like a team with something to fight for, and they ended the Seals' postseason chances with the HAC-I win.

Danville (6-12) rallied for two runs with two outs in the seventh inning. Bret Berg hit a two-run single to plate Kurtis Mordan and Garrett Krum. The Ironmen had three hits with two outs in the inning.

Berg finished with three RBIs for Danville.

Alex Moyer, Aidan Greak and Zach Hendricks all had two hits for Selinsgrove (8-11).

H.S. baseball: Selinsgrove beats Lewisburg on 11th inning passed ball

SELINSGROVE -- Alex Moyer saw the ball slip all the way to the backstop and immediately broke for home.

It was a fortunate break for a team due more than few in a season full of close losses.

Moyer scored standing up on the passed ball, a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the 11th inning, for a 3-2 win over Lewisburg in a Heartland Athletic Conference crossover game. It kept alive the Seals' playoff hopes.

MIFFLINBURG -- The Seals scored both of their runs in the fifth inning on two Wildcats errors as Colton Brouse shut down the Wildcats' (8-7) hitters on the mound over seven scoreless innings for the Seals to grab the HAC-I victory.Brouse only gave up two hits in the win while Selinsgrove's Andy Aurand allowed four.

Austin Benner recorded the Seals lone extra base hit, a double. Mifflinburg was led by Andrew Leitzel's double.

H.S. roundup: Selinsgrove baseball gets much needed win over Midd-West

MIDDLEBURG -- With only a couple of weeks left in the regular season, there's no better time for Selinsgrove to start a playoff push than right now.

Selinsgrove got a much-needed win on Friday to get that drive started when the Seals upended Midd-West, 6-2, in Heartland-I action.


Montoursville 14,

Selinsgrove 4 (5 inn.)

SELINSGROVE -- Three players had three hits for the Warriors, who pounded out a total of 15 hits in the HAC-I win over the Seals.

Catcher Cameron Ott and Dalton Cristini both went 3-for-4, and they combined for six extra-base hits for Montoursville.

Selinsgrove, which mustered just three hits in the game, falls to 5-10, 3-7 in league play.

SELINSGROVE -- After the game was suspended by rain Monday with the Seals up 5-2 in the fourth inning, Isaiah Rapp made sure that lead stood as his RBI double in the sixth helped the hosts take the HAC-I victory.

Rapp went 3-for-3 and he added a double to key a four-run third inning for Selinsgrove (5-9, 3-6 HAC). Colton Brouse and Colby Crissinger both added a pair of hits for the Seals.

Brady Chappell had a pair of hits including a solo home run in the first for Milton (4-6, 4-5).

CATAWISSA R.R. - Kyle Zigarski picked up his first win of the year on the mound in relief of John Wilson.

Zigarski worked the last three innings, while also getting a hit and driving in a run at the plate.

Taylor Young and Blake Marks each had two hits for the Tigers (7-2).

Rapp, Crissinger (5) and Shaffer; Wilson, Zigarski (5) and Young. W - Zigarski (1-0). L - Rapp.

Hits: Southern Columbia - Peters, Zigarski, Young 2, Klock, Marks 2, Hunter, Michaels.

2B - Young, Marks, Hunter. 3B - Marks.

SELINSGROVE — The Seals’ late-game comeback fell short as the Bulldogs held on for the HAC-I win.

Trailing by four, Selinsgrove (1-6 overall and HAC) tallied three runs in seventh inning, including two on a home run by from Aidan Greak, who also had a solo homer in the sixth.

Colton Brouse added a solo homer in the second inning for the Seals.

H.S. baseball: Mifflinburg ace Whitesel holds off Selinsgrove

SELINSGROVE -- Turns out Oakley Whitesel wasn't purposely upping his degree of difficulty to show off Monday.

Mifflinburg's senior ace practically gave Selinsgrove two first-inning runs with a throwing error. He had to keep Seals at third base in consecutive middle innings, and left another pair at second in the later frames.


April 3rd, 2013:

Behind five shutout innings from Pierce Ranck, Montoursville took down Selinsgrove, 9-0. Ryan Mondell led the Warriors on offense with a hit, two walks and two RBIs.

SELINSGROVE -- Nick Dunn not only got the complete-game win for the Braves, but he also hit a leadoff double in the fifth inning to set up an insurance run in the HAC-I victory over the Seals.

Dunn struck out six and walked three to finish with a three-hitter. Following his double, Dunn was plated by a Jean Turber RBI single for a 4-2 lead for Shikellamy (2-1, 2-0 HAC-I).

Andy Ryan doubled as Selinsgrove (0-2, 0-2) scored both of its runs in the third inning.

MILTON -- Milton's baseball team has more seniors than a retirement community, so the Black Panthers' junior starters have to do something to stand out from the crowd.
