Zimmerman Motors Helps Raise $4,040.00 for

Selinsgrove Baseball with a Dodge Booster Club Fundraiser

SELINSGROVE, PA – Selinsgrove Area High School students, families, and community supporters participated in a Dodge Drive-a-Thon on May 6, 2014 and raised $4,040.00 for the Selinsgrove Baseball Boosters.  During the evening of a varsity home game against Danville, the Dodge brand contributed $20 for each test drive in a new 2014 Dodge Durango, Grand Caravan, Dart, or Journey.

“Dodge dealers are committed to giving back to their communities, “ said Jeffrey Kommor, Vice-President of Sales Operations, Chrysler Group LLC. “We’re proud to support organizations like this one that encourage student development and growth.”

“We had a great turnout for the Dodge Drive-a-Thon Fundraiser,” said Robert C. Zimmerman, of Zimmerman Motors.  “It was a privilege to work with the parents and students of Selinsgrove Area High School and our pleasure to present this check to Selinsgrove Baseball Boosters on behalf of the Dodge brand.

The Dodge brand has supported schools across the country for many years.  Since 1993, Dodge has helped raise over $5 million for local schools with test-drive programs like the Dodge Drive-a-Thon Fundraiser.

Baseball: Seals' Rapp quiets Southern's bats

SELINSGROVE — Isaiah Rapp just needed a few runs and some dirt to fly up to change his fate.

The only problem was that Selinsgrove was having trouble solving the puzzle that was the left arm of Southern Columbia pitcher John Wilson.

The first time Wilson worked through the Seals’ lineup, Selinsgrove was left trying to decipher an image with the wrong pieces.

But one inning changed that as Selinsgrove beat Southern Columbia, 3-1, in a Heartland Athletic Conference crossover game Monday.

Baseball: Shikellamy, Selinsgrove fall to consolation game

SUNBURY — Aiden Greak was terribly disappointed on two fronts Saturday.

First, he and his Selinsgrove teammates saw their Shikellamy Tournament semifinal game get away from them in one ugly inning. Then Greak learned his bat would have even more time to cool down when the tournament consolation game was postponed.

H.S. baseball: Selinsgrove's Cook steals runs from rival

DANVILLE — Tyler Cook wasn’t credited with a save in Selinsgrove’s 5-3 win over Danville, but perhaps he should have been.

The Seals senior shortstop made several stellar defensive plays Thursday, at least three of which prevented runs.

But no save — no statistic at all to measure the value of his glove work (RTAs: runs taken away?) — just the appreciation of his coaches and teammates, and the frustration of their HAC-I rivals.

High school roundup: Greak, Selinsgrove power past Montoursville

By The Daily Item

SELINSGROVE -- With a little bit of power off the bat of Aidan Greak, Selinsgrove picked up a key home win versus perennial league contenders Montoursville on Thursday.

Greak hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning and a sacrifice fly in the sixth to help the Seals fend off the Warriors, 9-7, in the Heartland-I contest.

Selinsgrove (2-2, 1-2 HAC-I) led 5-3 following Greak's homer, but the Seals every one of the four runs they scored in the sixth to get the win.

Colton Brouse and Isaiah Rapp both had two hits  including a double in the game for Selinsgrove, with Brouse also driving in a run.

Four of the Seals' runs were unearned as the Warriors committed three errors in the game.

And.......Justin Geedey was the MAN!

 Midd-West 8, Selinsgrove 2

SELINSGROVE — A hot start by the Mustangs propelled them past the cross-county rival Seals in a Heartland-I contest.

Midd-West (3-0, 3-0 HAC-I) scored six runs in the first inning and two more in the third to carry an 8-0 lead into the fifth.

“Our defense needs to pick it up and our pitchers are having serious trouble throwing strikes,” said Seals coach Brent Beiler. “If we can sort out the strikes, we can and will be competitive.”

Luke Zimmerman hit a two-run double to key the Mustangs’ offense along with Aaron Sharp, who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

Andy Ryan was 2-for-3 and drove in a run for Selinsgrove (1-2, 0-2).

High school baseball: Brouse, Selinsgrove top Line Mountain in Valley lid-lifter

By Todd Hummel

For The Daily Item

SELINSGROVE -- Brent Beiler couldn't have imagined the Selinsgrove baseball opener going any better.

The Seals missed districts by two wins last season, but Beiler didn't want to dwell on that or any other numbers as Selinsgrove started its season on Friday afternoon with Line Mountain.
